We have been regulars at hatch for a long time, but recently we haven’t been happy with the quantity of food that’s being provided for the price. For $13.00 we received a sandwich with literally two slices of turkey on it. For $46 dollars for 3 sandwiches and 2 orders of sweet potato fries. Each box of fries has about 8 to 10 fries in it? The sandwiches have gotten smaller and prices continue to rise. I understand that the price of food has gone up, but to make people pay almost $50 for 3 sandwiches and for each of them to have 2 to 3 slices of paper thin meat on them is unacceptable. Not to even mention the fact that the thanksgiving sandwich had almost no cranberry on it. Maybe 2 cranberries total? If that’s what it costs for you guys to turn a profit and pay your staff, you don’t have a business model. In previous reviews others have complained about similar issues, the quantity of food seems like it’s decreasing while the price of the food continues to go up. In other reviews you’ve rebutted that your standard protocol is on average 4 and some even maxing out at around 8 ounces per sandwich. I’ve uploaded an image refuting this claim. I should have taken images of the other two sandwiches as well, all 3 sandwiches had around 3 slices of deli meat max on them. Even before I opened the sandwiches I noticed they were on the smaller side. Much thinner than they used to be. We used to be able to justify the price because the quality and quantity was fair. I don’t feel we can justify spending $50 on lunch anymore I’ve noticed a growing a trend in a lot of establishments downtown where this same pattern is being repeated. The quantity is decreasing, the price is increasing. This growing trend is going to need to stop if businesses expect to retain their loyal customer base. I understand how difficult it is to run a small business, I understand the price of things have increased dramatically. Businesses are going to have to acknowledge that increasing costs, while decreasing quantity is not going to keep people around. You can’t have it both ways, people feel taken advantage of.

Time for lunch and I was able to get a parking space close to Hatch. We ordered at the counter and took a seat in the back where sandwiches were delivered about 15 minutes later. Made to order and they were busy, so this is an appropriate time. They have a cooler with beers and canned/bottled sodas. There is also a self-service soda fountain in the back. It's a nice dining area with different options for seating including a large communal table, some high tops and low tops. There might be a wifi. Restrooms were clean. Sandwiches arrived and they were great. I had chose the "Club" which was ham, turkey and bacon with appropriate fixings. Delicious, slightly messy, very yummy. My wife had the "Thanksgiving Turkey" with cranberry and thick sliced tomato. Also excellent. Great lunch, nice little place. I'm glad we found it!

Last night was our first time to dine at Hatch — but it won’t be our last! I had commented several times when heading downtown for a play that we should give it a try and we finally did. Yes, theater goers— its super close to Hickory Community Theater! We tried several things. The pulled pork grill cheese was delicious — piled high with pork and yummy cheese! We also order the three sides plate. We chose the Brussels sprouts with maple, the broccoli with miso, sumac roasted carrots. The broccoli stands out for the umami flavors and the carrots were just perfection. The REAL standout for the night was the charred eggplant with “cashew-cilantro cream, pickled mustard seeds, parsley, and hot honey”. WOW! It was amazing. It might not win any prizes for beauty, but for flavor, it is top notch! If they have this on special when you dine there, don’t miss it. We were actually using the bread from our sandwiches to get every last bit of that cashew cream from the plate. Yes, it is that good. When you are looking for a place that isn’t fancy or pretentious, has good prices and excellent food, give Hatch a try.

Beautiful corner store with delicious food. I was amazed at how they make their pork belly and it really drew me in. I got the pork belly sandwich and it was delicious. Anything with pork belly on it will be amazing.

I have been here several times and definitely plan on going back. The staff is friendly and the sandwiches are delicious! My only critique is the one time I tried the Mac and cheese it wasn’t fresh and I couldn’t enjoy it. I would still 100% recommend this place to anyone in the area who likes a good sandwich. Also pro tip is to try the Brussels sprouts from here even if you don’t like Brussels. Make sure you try the burger special if they have it. Best burger I have ever had!

We came up to the Farmer’s Market in Hickory on Saturday & my husband began googling a spot to eat. We found Hatch by chance. I had the pulled pork (they put the sauce on the side) and I also chose Mac & cheese and cauliflower for my sides. Perfect! My husband had a gooey, broccoli & cheese sandwich. Great service with a smile from the lady up at the register. Oh and if you are looking for a drink to go with your eats…they have a big selection. (Look at my photos) Please note: Not a traditional restaurant with tables and chairs….the indoor seating is almost bar-like, you can dine seated facing window, facing out. But works for me! My husband wanted to eat outside. Glad we were able to find a table in their sidewalk patio. They have umbrellas etc set up to shelter from the sun. Check them out the next time you are in Hickory. Enjoy!

I generally come here a couple times a month. But I went for lunch yesterday and they were swamped. Colin as usual was gracious and awesome. Food was delivered quickly and it was fantastic. I ordered the club w/ sweet potato fries.

My friend and I just ate here for the first time and we’re very impressed. We both got the chicken salad sandwich. It’s one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Lots of white meat chicken, a hint of cilantro, mayo, bacon and smashed avocado on perfectly toasted bread. I got the brussels sprouts as a side, she got the sweet potato fries, and we shared them. Everything was delicious! I wish I lived near here so that I could come all the time. Great service as well and a lovely seating area outdoors. Highly recommend.
